Maternity Portraits – The Koltonskis

Whitney, Chris & Lila – I don’t even know where to begin with y’all!!! I am so thankful to be able to return time after time to this meaning-filled, sun-drenched field with you to document your sweet family!! You three are just too much fun to work with, and the most genuinely kind people.

Y’all I swear half of Nacogdoches could probably hear me squeal when Whitney messaged me to ask to set up a maternity shoot before I moved to Houston. Knowing this family was expecting another miracle baby, and knowing I got to be the one to photograph them just about made my heart burst! And as you can tell by the amount of photos in this post, the session did not disappoint! I have waaaay to many favorites from this one!

This one just makes me melt! I love seeing big tough guys so in love with their little girls!

And how sweet is Lila’s little dress??? And those manicured toes? Too much!

Whitney, I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but you were just born to be a mama. Lila & your son are so incredibly blessed to have you!!

Pregnancy is such an incredible miracle, and knowing what Whitney & Chris went through to fight for their little ones makes this miracle even more amazing. Whitney and I both got teary-eyed at one point thinking about what a blessing this baby is, and I don’t know that I’ll ever forget that moment!

This right here is pretty much the definition of glowing. Whitney, even in the crazy heat you make pregnancy look GOOD!!

Another favorite!!! And definitely worth getting close and snuggly even though it was 1,000 degrees outside! Chris, thanks for bearing with me on this one!

We may have had a few tears during the course of the shoot, but the overwhelming feeling was joy and there was sooo much laughter! Love that about these two!!

Whitney & Chris, I am so excited for y’all, and I can’t ever say thank you enough for letting me be a small part of this story. You have a beautiful family, and I will be praying for you & little man! Can’t wait to meet him!!

Our Maternity Portraits

A few weeks ago we met up with Johanna of Willow Baby Photography to get our maternity portraits done. She used to work with the photographer who took our family portraits last year, Jackie Ray Photography, and now specializes in maternity & newborn photography.

Johanna was just as sweet as can be, and I’m so excited to share a peek at our photos! And with today being our original due date, what better time to share!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this one of these two! One of my favorite sights – seeing this little girl light up and giggle when she’s playing with her daddy.

We did a quick wardrobe change (well, as quick as we could make it with me being very pregnant and us having to chase down a toddler…), and we headed off to the same spot we took our family portraits.

These two crack me up… she had to point out where baby sister is, and then make sure we knew where her baby is too!

Another favorite of these two… Peanut showing off her “strong woman” pose with her strong daddy. Too cute!

I’m so glad we were able to get these last couple shots. When we had our complications earlier in our pregnancy, I couldn’t pick up Peanut and it just hurt my heart to think that I wouldn’t be able to get any photos like this. Luckily God heard and granted our prayers, fixed the complications, and I got these sweet memories with my girls.

Monthly Photo Project – September

This is the last month that the photo challenge will include some sort of self-portrait, and it’s just crazy to think about!!! I was tempted to try to set up another “real” self-portrait with the tripod & good lighting, but then something started happening, and I just knew that’s what I wanted this month’s photo to be – even it means they aren’t the prettiest/most perfect of photos.

Peanut has been so sweet with “Baby Sister” and wants to touch or kiss my baby bump a lot. Recently, she often decides that after we read her a book, it’s then her turn to “read” it to the baby. She turns the book toward my bump teacher-style so that her little sister can see the pages, and it’s just about the cutest thing ever. The “reading” really ends up being her just saying what’s on the page – usually accompanied by her pointing to the book and then tapping her hand on my belly to make sure Baby Sister is paying attention.

It’s also usually accompanied by my heart swelling to the point it might burst.

Aaand it’s the point and pat move… LOVE that you can see the paint evidence of a school-day art project on Peanut’s hand in the one on the right. It’s those little things that get so easily forgotten, but the days of finger paint art projects will soon be gone for her, and I’m glad to have the memory of these days frozen in time.

Peanut, I can’t wait to see you officially become a big sister in the next few weeks!! You’re doing a great job of it so far.
