Y’all this session was a long time coming!! I’ve photographed Hannah’s sister & her family before many times, and we tried to get something set up forever ago, but you know, life got in the way.

I was sooo glad that we were finally able to find a day & time that worked for our schedules! They’ve been so sweet to let me photograph repeatedly in the field on their property, so it made it extra special to finally be able to photograph them there!

Apparently there’s a beautiful mama-to-be gene floating around in that family, because both Hannah and her sister have been the prettiest pregnant women! Hannah – you look great!!!

Can we just talk about those eyes for a second??? And little ones with their daddy – melt my heart!

So sweet!!!

I love that Hannah had on her Mother’s Love ring from James Avery. Such a perfect touch to a bump shot!

Little Stephen was allll about work during most of the shoot. He was focused on his tractor & moving dirt around, and had the most serious furrowed brow expression on his face… pretty much the cutest thing ever! So intent on helping out – I’m sure his daddy will put that to use one day!

A family tickle fight sure helped to bring out the smiles though!

Isn’t he just so handsome??? (And please notice the handful of dirt & grass.)

This one is DEFINITELY a favorite!!!

Lee family, thank you SO much for letting me finally photograph you on your beautiful property. I really enjoyed watching such hard work get done, hearing laughter being shared among family, and witnessing the quieter moments of anticipation of the arrival of your newest family member. I hope to photograph the FOUR of you in the future!

Becoming a Photographer – Thank You Pt. 1

This past Sunday was Gratitude Sunday at church & I am so thankful for the reminder to not only be grateful, but to then express that gratitude.

There are so many things in life – big & small – for which I should be thankful. And many things I am thankful for, but I am not always the best at taking the time to really say it. Life gets busy, business gets busy, my mind gets busy. And then before you know it, I haven’t said anything. Haven’t written the thank you note.

But I realized that in reality, it shouldn’t ever be too late to say thank you. Sure, it may be a little awkward based on social customs/accepted timelines, but the thought is still pure & worth sharing.

So over the next few weeks I want to take some time to publicly thank some people who have been instrumental in creating or encouraging a huge part of who I am – a photographer.

To Mrs. Kerbow,

I didn’t know that when I signed up for Journalism at Kingwood High School that it would end up changing my life’s direction. You saw something in me in those first few class days, and your encouragement to say that you wanted me in Yearbook on your staff instead of in that beginner class planted a seed. Making Yearbook so much fun & allowing me to step out with a camera opened me up to photography in more than a snapshot sense.

The year-end award for best photography in HS yearbook isn’t exactly critical acclaim or a resounding accolade. But it made me realize that photography was something I was good at. I could be a photographer. And that helped spur my decision to go into the College of Mass Communications as I began my career at Texas Tech. And when I had to make the choice of a major, it gave me confidence to choose Photocommunications.

Thank you for creating the base for one of my life’s passions. Thank you for building the foundation of my skill. And thank you for the gift of beginning to believe in myself as a photographer.

It just feels right that I’m now a photographer in Kingwood. Right where you helped me start.

Maternity Portraits – The Koltonskis

Whitney, Chris & Lila – I don’t even know where to begin with y’all!!! I am so thankful to be able to return time after time to this meaning-filled, sun-drenched field with you to document your sweet family!! You three are just too much fun to work with, and the most genuinely kind people.

Y’all I swear half of Nacogdoches could probably hear me squeal when Whitney messaged me to ask to set up a maternity shoot before I moved to Houston. Knowing this family was expecting another miracle baby, and knowing I got to be the one to photograph them just about made my heart burst! And as you can tell by the amount of photos in this post, the session did not disappoint! I have waaaay to many favorites from this one!

This one just makes me melt! I love seeing big tough guys so in love with their little girls!

And how sweet is Lila’s little dress??? And those manicured toes? Too much!

Whitney, I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but you were just born to be a mama. Lila & your son are so incredibly blessed to have you!!

GAH!!! This one is definitely a favorite!!

I don’t think Lila could get any cuter!

LOVE these next two!!!

Pregnancy is such an incredible miracle, and knowing what Whitney & Chris went through to fight for their little ones makes this miracle even more amazing. Whitney and I both got teary-eyed at one point thinking about what a blessing this baby is, and I don’t know that I’ll ever forget that moment!

This right here is pretty much the definition of glowing. Whitney, even in the crazy heat you make pregnancy look GOOD!!

Another favorite!!! And definitely worth getting close and snuggly even though it was 1,000 degrees outside! Chris, thanks for bearing with me on this one!

Pure joy.

We may have had a few tears during the course of the shoot, but the overwhelming feeling was joy and there was sooo much laughter! Love that about these two!!

Whitney & Chris, I am so excited for y’all, and I can’t ever say thank you enough for letting me be a small part of this story. You have a beautiful family, and I will be praying for you & little man! Can’t wait to meet him!!
