Senior Portraits – Jessica O.

Ok, y’all… I know I say this a lot, but I just LOVE photographing college seniors, and I LOVE when we are able to incorporate details that make the shoot really personal! And this shoot definitely has that!

Jessica, I loved getting to know you and taking your graduation photos! You are so nice & easy-going, and I really appreciate the way I can tell you put so much importance on family & friends.

One of the amazing personal details Jessica brought with her was this charm bracelet with a photo of her father. I love getting the close shot of Lumberjacks with their graduation gear on and putting up their “axe” – and being able to have something so special included in that shot makes it even better!

LOVE this one! Jessica, you’re beautiful!!

In addition to earning her Mathematics degree, Jessica also competed on the SFA Volleyball team – which y’all know I love as a former volleyball player myself! Even though we were up bright & early for Jessica’s senior portraits, her roommate /teammate came up to campus to jump into a few shots too.

Another thing y’all have probably caught on to is how I love to get detail shots of my seniors’ SFA ring if they have one – Jessica upped that by one and brought her Southland Conference champion ring!

I love this next set of images!

Another sweet, personal detail was this framed photo of Jessica’s dad with the phrase “Dad – forever my hero” on it – love, love, love.

Jessica wanted a natural background and feel for her images, so of course we headed over to the SFA Arboretum – nothing quite like these East Texas gardens in spring time! I have no idea what this plant is with the drapey white flowers, but gosh do I love it!

This has to be a favorite – Jessica, you are seriously so pretty! Just love your blue eyes!

Ahhhh that sweet, soft morning light was just loving Jessica!

Jessica & her sister have matching tattoos with a heart & infinity symbol, and I loved the way it peeked out over the top of her dress. When I asked her the story behind the tattoo, and found out it had family ties, I had to grab a quick shot!

Jessica, congrats again on your upcoming graduation & all you accomplished while at SFA! I wish you nothing but the best as you move on into interning & starting your career. Thank you for letting me be the one to help you commemorate this amazing time in your life!

Senior Portraits – Solomon

Today’s blog post is a special one because I get to celebrate an amazing person and recent graduate!!!! Solomon has been a part of the Orientation Program for years, and it’s really been a blessing to watch him grow in his leadership skills and see the impact he’s had on his fellow Lumberjacks. Solomon has the most infectious positive spirit, and I am so proud of the way he has hustled and worked on school and while pouring himself into the many organizations he’s been a part of.

It was so fun to see the reality of graduation really sink in while he was wearing his graduation attire – there’s just something so surreal (and a little bittersweet) about this time – being so excited to accomplish an amazing goal and move on to the next step in life, but also a little sad to be leaving the place you’ve made your home for the past few years. Solomon was definitely a little more on the excited side during our shoot though!!

I love this one, Solomon!! You have the BEST smile!!

Through his participation in so many aspects of campus, Solomon has become a bit of an SFA icon for a lot of people, just like the traditional Rusk building, so I loved getting a few shots of him with those columns and staircase in the background.

And this series? This is soooooo Solomon!! I’m going to miss having that larger than life personality around campus and the office!

Once again – can’t stay serious for too long… and I love it!

Solomon, congrats again! I am so so so proud of you, and I hope you soaked in every second of your graduation experience on Saturday! I can’t wait to see what big things you accomplish in the future – I’ll be cheering you on the whole way!!

Senior Portraits – Chris

I was so excited for this shoot for multiple reasons – 1. It was soooo good to finally be back behind the camera for real after having to take a break for the last part of my pregnancy and since Pumpkin was born. 2. It was awesome to get to take Chris’s portraits because he’s the younger brother of one of the amazing women I work with at SFA, and I’ve known him since he started as a freshman at SFA. 3. It ended up having multiple personal details/locations, and I love when the images can really tell a deeper story in that one moment.

We started out getting some shots with the iconic sign at the main entrance to campus, and Chris was a natural right from the beginning!

Love this one!

Then we moved deeper into campus to one building he’s spent a lot of time in as a business major…

And to another iconic campus location, Surfin’ Steve…

The next place we went is another building Chris has spent many hours in, the Rec center. Chris has worked for the rec for a long time, and does a great job! And this series of photos? They may just be a new favorite… too funny!

Chris, I was always happy when you were working on orientation nights because I knew you’d be able to help handle anything that might happen!

These last photos were at the very end of the shoot, but I am so glad we took the time to capture them. Chris told me he had his first Bible in his truck, and he wanted to get a photo with it if possible… ummm, yes. I absolutely love this… such a powerful, visual reminder that we need to remember to always include God and His hand in the celebrations of our accomplishments. The pages nearly falling out and the spine and cover peeling back in places weren’t flaws I wanted to conceal in photos… they are beautiful proof of the time spent in His word, and they were just perfect.

Chris, thanks for letting me be a small part of your SFA & graduation experience! I know you’re meant for big things, and I can’t wait to hear all about them!!
