Benjamin – 1 Year Portraits

Little Ones packages are always so bittersweet for me! I love love LOVE being able to connect with these kiddos & their families & see them so often throughout their first year! It does make me sad though whenever we finish up their final shoot!

It’s been amazing getting to know little Benjamin & his whole family over the past year! He is seriously just the cutest little thing (THAT HAIR & THOSE EYES!!!!), & I’m going to miss seeing him & his adorable brothers!

Seriously….. too. cute.

This shoot had to get rescheduled so many times because of all of the crazy rain, and even though it was still dark & gray we made it happen & based on Benjamin’s smiles in most of these photos, you can tell he brought the sunshine for us!

…except at the end when the poor little guy was just spent. I love getting these images too, even if they aren’t the big, bright smiles, because that look, those little tears & that comforting blanket are so true to this stage in his life, and as a mama, these are the things that I’m going to want to remember in vivid detail when something as simple as a blanket won’t heal the hurt.

Invest

If you’re feeling empty, invest.

Invest in yourself.Β

Take time to slow down & breathe for a minute.

Take the time to learn something new.

Take the time to really look at all you do on a daily basis – all of the different roles you play.

Take the time to create something simply for the sake of creating.

Take the time to take care of your body.

Take the time to sit in quiet with your God.

Take the time – MAKE Β the time – to do something you truly enjoy.

Because this is your one, precious life. And while I know it may seem impossible to slow down, to find time for just you, you’re the only one who can make the choice to make that happen. So invest in yourself, friend. Believe that you’re truly worth every bit of the investment – because without a doubt, you are.

Love

Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day today.

Yes, today’s supposed to be about love.

But I hope today you focus on more than just romantic love. Celebrate love of family. Love of friends. Love of nature. Love of God.

Go past the Hallmark phrases or conversation hearts, and actually share phrases from YOUR HEART.

Not everyone feels like they write well, or speak eloquently. We don’t all sound like that perfect line from a movie. But that’s not what matters anyway – the real, honest, true-life stuff is what matters, regardless of how messy it may seem.

So today,Β take a minute to share love. Give a hug. Give a high five. Compliment someone’s shoes (as long as you genuinely like them). Write a love note. Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Look in the mirror & say out loud to yourself at least one reason why you love you…. & then believe it.

If you’re into grand gestures, by all means go big with your displays of love & affection. But if you’re more a sticky-note on the dash of the car kinda person – go with that. Just share your love today… there are people in your life who need to hear it & feel it.
