Family Portraits – The Fish Family

I am so so so thankful for this family, y’all. And I was so glad that I was able to swing through Nacogdoches on my way back to Kingwood to spend some time with them & get some updated family portraits. We’d taken family photos for them in this same general area before, so we ended up making a little bit of a walk to a new area & I loved it!

Their session that ended up having some blackberry-picking last year was one of my favorites, but this one is right up there too!! Seeing the interaction between family members is my favorite!!! Yes, getting photos with kids in the 2-4 year old range isn’t always the prettiest/smoothest in the behind the scenes, but they are so full of life & when I’m able to play & laugh & joke with them (& when mom & dad trust me to get good photos in the midst of the silliness), then we end up with gold. You see their personalities shine & that’s what it’s all about!!!!

When I go back to edit/blog/look at photos like this… I can always hear that laughter in my head!! LOVE it.

O my gosh, as a mama myself, these kind of images always pull at my heart strings so much. There’s a lot of work that goes into being a mama & it’s not always the fun kind, but getting these quieter moments on camera to look back on for years & years to come is such a powerful thing. You get to look back on not only how your children have grown, but how you’ve grown as a wife & mother.

Connor is allll boy and was silliness & giggles & energy during our session (which I know can sometimes make mamas nervous, but I love it! The photos always turn out better than mom might think they will based on their kiddos haha!). But in the midst of the laughter, this sweet little boy grabbed the teeny-tiniest little flower & held on to it for SO LONG. That sweetness made me understand how mamas get completed wrapped up around their little boys!

The “money shot” with smiles & the reality of life in this stage…. nothing makes me happier than capturing both sides of a family!!

Connor & Peanut were in daycare together since they were itty bitty little babies, and seeing him look this grown up is just CRAZY to me!

Brittany, Gavin & Connor – THANK YOU a million times over for coming back to me for photos year after year! We love & miss y’all, but I’m thankful to be able to see y’all when come back up there for photos. Come down to Houston & stay with us soon!!!!

Addie – 6 months

Y’all. This little girl. This session. These outfits.

I can’t wait to share these with you!!!! Addie is one of my Little Ones clients and I’m not sure how it’s even possible but I think she just keeps getting cuter & cuter! And if you remember her newborn portraits, you know that’s tough to top on the cuteness scale!!!

Seriously though…. It doesn’t get much cuter than this!!!!

Best. Facial. Expression. Ever.

This sweater was knitted just for Addie (ummmmmm… skills.) & these little ruffly socks? So sweet!

Love this one!! Her little toes pointed together just slays me!

Since it’s almost Easter, Amanda & Steve brought some little props, and those bunny ears, y’all!! I was so impressed that Addie kept them on! I know my girls wouldn’t have lasted 30 seconds in those!!

Love this one too!

Aaaaaaand yet another favorite!

The sweetest little serious Easter bunny ever.

Such a happy little girl! We’ll leave out the details on what her parents & I were doing behind the camera to get those grins, but it was worth it!

This just about sums up how I feel about the fact that three of Addie’s shoots are already done! Going by way too fast!

Amanda & Steve, thanks so much for making the drive to shoot at our house & for letting me photograph all of these sweet stages in Addie’s first year! I love getting to see y’all periodically & absolutely love getting to photograph your beautiful baby girl!!

Benjamin – 1 Year Portraits

Little Ones packages are always so bittersweet for me! I love love LOVE being able to connect with these kiddos & their families & see them so often throughout their first year! It does make me sad though whenever we finish up their final shoot!

It’s been amazing getting to know little Benjamin & his whole family over the past year! He is seriously just the cutest little thing (THAT HAIR & THOSE EYES!!!!), & I’m going to miss seeing him & his adorable brothers!

Seriously….. too. cute.

This shoot had to get rescheduled so many times because of all of the crazy rain, and even though it was still dark & gray we made it happen & based on Benjamin’s smiles in most of these photos, you can tell he brought the sunshine for us!

…except at the end when the poor little guy was just spent. I love getting these images too, even if they aren’t the big, bright smiles, because that look, those little tears & that comforting blanket are so true to this stage in his life, and as a mama, these are the things that I’m going to want to remember in vivid detail when something as simple as a blanket won’t heal the hurt.
