Movie Challenge – March

We actually watched all three movies in March!! It’s been a while since that’s happened, and while all three movies weren’t exactly home runs, they were mostly good choices.

His Pick:

When the Game Stands Tall

This was somewhat of a feel-good sports movie, but we still enjoyed it.  Jim Caviezel did a great job as always, and somewhat carried the film. I have to admit though, I’m a sucker for football and a good story, so this one was more in the win column than the lose column.

My Pick:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

mockingjay 1

I’m getting excited to see Max’s aunt in Mockingjay Part 2, so we had to make sure we’re all caught up on the series. This may not be cinematic royalty in some senses, but I have to give it to them – they’ve done a good job with this series. I wouldn’t say this is my favorite Hunger Games film, but I did enjoy it.

Our Pick:

We watched this as a family while we were on spring break… and I wish we would have watched something else. Many war movies tend to be a little slow for my taste, but this was definitely slow. I also felt like there were lots of times where you knew you were watching actor portrayals, rather than getting caught up in the characters and the story. Out of the whole cast, Norman was my favorite character – mostly because he was believable to me. All in all, not the worst I’ve seen, but not one I’d recommend.

I want to hear from you!
