Yea… I know we’re almost a week into the New Year, but that’s still pretty new, right?
Those of you who have liked the b.marie.photography Facebook page may have seen that I’m going to have a Word of the Year this year… and in the sake of keeping things consistent… I’m a little behind on finalizing what that word will be… But I’ll get to that later this week.
As the New Year comes in, so many people make resolutions. I’ve done it too. And then somewhere around the 20th or so, we’ve already lost touch with them. Maybe you make it farther in to the year… March. April. July, even. Maybe you’re one of the ones who really does stick it out – nicely done!
But I’ve found that resolutions don’t really work for me.
And I think I may have finally realized why…
Making a resolution sounds like you’re forcing yourself to do something you don’t want to do. Something you’ll just have to slug through. Just ‘grin & bear it.”
Doesn’t really sound all that inspiring, motivating or exciting.
Why not make a vow? Make a change? Make a choice to enjoy the process of bettering yourself, and bettering your life? Make it fun! Make it meaningful!
So that, my friends, is why I’m not making any resolutions this year. I’m choosing a word. Words are powerful. And hopefully my word has staying power for me this year.
