Thankful for Old Friends

This past Sunday I went to a bridal brunch for a dear friend from grad school. Not only was I able to see her, I was able to see two other amazing ladies. It really had me thinking on my drive home just how fortunate I am to have friends like them.

They take me for who I am, and are supportive. They make me laugh. One is a new mommy as well, so we shared a few knowing looks throughout brunch. They are amazingly intelligent, talented and caring – they inspire me to do more and be more. They are people that even if we haven’t talked in months, we pick up right where we left off.

There were moments during brunch when I seriously felt like nothing had changed – although LOTS of things have changed with all of us. That feeling is truly a gift. It’s not often (in my experience) that you end up with a group like that. I am so blessed to be able to call these beautiful women my friends. I hate that we are all scattered throughout the state, but I am so so thankful that we have the kind of friendship that always feels like home – no matter where we are.

So take the time to really appreciate those friends who are your “home” – make time to see them (even if you ALL have crazy higher ed career schedules) because it is so worth it to remember in person just how lucky you are to have them.

Love y’all!!
